Cocktails
Cheers to the holiday season! As things start to wind down as we approach the new year, it's time to kick back and relax. What better way is there to do it than with celebratory cocktails & desserts! But what if you could have both at the same time? This CHOCOLATE-based Martini is the answer to all your wishes!
What is a Martini?
Traditionally, a martini is a cocktail made with gin and vermouth, and garnished with an olive or a lemon twists. However, a popular variation is the vodka martini, which uses vodka instead of gin for the cocktail's base spirit.
The Origins of the Martini
The exact origin of the martini is unclear as there are a couple of theories about it. Some say thee name may derive from a brand of vermouth known as "Martini". Another popular theory suggests it evolved from a cocktail called "The Martinez", which was served in the early 1860s at the Occidental Hotel San Francisco, which people frequented before taking an evening ferry to the nearby town of Martinez. Alternatively, residents of Martinez say a bartender in their town created the drink, while another source indicates that the drink was named after the town.
You can add "milk" to Martinis?!
Yes you can! Popular versions of martinis that contain cream or milk include the espresso martini and the chocolate martini. Cream will produce a rich drink and is often used in small quantities, while milk will create the lightest drinks, though this will vary depending on the milk used.
